Make Sure You Backup Your Files
Leigh Goldblatt, MLS Technician
It’s happened to everyone when you accidentally delete an important
file or contact from your computer. Or the horrible feeling you get
when you realize your computer will never boot up again. This is why
it’s so important to have a backup copy of all your important
files and information.
With most new computers today coming with writable CD and DVD drives
(CDRW\DVDRW), it makes sense to have an updated copy of your files.
Computers also come with easy to use software with a simple backup option
and blank CD’s and DVD’s are fairly inexpensive.
If you prefer not using CD’s and DVD’s to backup your
files, another option is using the built in USB ports on your computer.
This allows you to back up to many different types of drives such as
a flash drive or a portable hard drive.
No matter which method you choose, it is important to back up your
files and frequently. It is also a good idea to keep a copy off premise
so in case your office or home is damaged by flood or fire and your
files are destroyed at that location, you have an off site copy to restore
from. |
